One Piece: Movie Red explores key events in the One Piece series, including the reveal of Shanks and the introduction of new character Uta. This raises some doubts about the timeline of events when placed in the main story timeline.

Recently, a storyboard from creator Oda was released, shedding more light on the timeline of events involving Shanks and Uta, while also detailing their origins and family relationships. Surname.

Oda sought to integrate Uta into Luffy’s story without changing the main plot, demonstrating the complexity of his writing.

One Piece: Red Movie shows that the details introduced in the movie have an influence on the current manga plot, but are not completely consistent in terms of timeline.

One Piece: Red Movie does not follow the canonical timeline of the One Piece manga and is therefore not set immediately after the Wano arc. This series relies more on the pacing of the anime, which can lead to some chronological confusion.

Although released before episodes 1029 and 1030 of the anime, “One Piece Film: Red” temporarily interrupted the story of the Wano Arc, to focus on the friendship between Uta and Luffy. This break was further extended due to a ransomware attack affecting Toei Animation, delaying anime production.

The alternate timeline is as follows:

Although the film contains elements that take place after the Wano arc, such as Jinbei’s presence in the crew, Zeus’s escape from Nami’s attack, and Luffy’s Gear 5 debut, it is not considered is part of the manga’s classic story. The One Piece films often create separate stories that do not directly interfere with the main timeline, allowing the characters to engage in parallel adventures.

For example, even though Big Mom is still alive on “Whole Cake Island,” within the context of the movie, Luffy’s continued status as one of the Four Emperors is not directly affected. As such, “One Piece Film: Red” occupies an ambiguous position, neither entirely before nor entirely after Wano, creating an isolated experience that does not follow the strict continuity of the manga.

Like other films in the franchise, such as “One Piece: Stampede” and “One Piece Film: Gold,” “Film: Red” offers a break from the usual adventures to explore a storyline unofficial. It is recommended that you update the manga before watching the movie as it contains spoilers that were not mentioned in the anime.
